Rankings

EDsmart brings you an easy to read, easy to digest ranking of the best online colleges in Georgia.

To be considered for this ranking, schools must provide online courses.

Schools are ranked based on four data points in three categories:

  • Affordability (financial aid, net price)
  • Student Satisfaction (retention rate)
  • Student Outcome (4-year graduation rate)

Each data point is ranked with equal weight. Schools received a weighted overall ranking score for each individual point mentioned above–100 being the highest score possible.

In the case of a tie in scoring, the average net price was the determining factor for which school received the higher rank–the lower the net price, the higher the ranking.

All data was gathered from the National Center for Education Statistics website and is accurate at the time of this writing [May 2019].

Georgia is known for a humid, subtropical climate that creates hot summers; there’s a reason that the state capital, Atlanta, is colloquially referred to as “Hotlanta.” (The term even inspired a song by Georgia natives The Allman Brothers Band.) The ninth most populous state, Georgia is home to more than 9.5 million people, with 5.4 million in the Atlanta metro region alone. The state’s economy is a mix of agriculture, corporate interests, and entertainment. Peanut, corn, and soybean production are big business for Georgia, which is also the top producer of pecans in the world. The state also has a variety of mineral and timber production facilities. On the corporate front, Atlanta and its surrounding areas are home to the headquarters of major entities including Coca-Cola, Georgia Pacific, UPS, Delta Air Lines, and Arby’s. Georgia is also the home of Ted Turner, the media mogul who founded TBS, TNT, CNN, Cartoon Network, CNN, and Headline News. They’re all headquartered in Atlanta, making the area a hot one for media and tourism. Georgia also is home to MLB’s Atlanta Braves, NBA’s Atlanta Hawks, and the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons.
